With the release of Pots & Pans via Breakfast Records tomorrow, Joe Sherrin from Milo's Planes, aka SLONK, showcases a fresh new sound. From his attic!
Walking Backwards is taken from SLONK's upcoming EP. The record has a specific Lo-Fi sound, and a very special atmosphere to match. So what About the new album? Joe tells us: "I recorded the bulk of it during an absence from work, I believe "stomach problem" is what I told them, I think the majority of the songs could have been played in my various other bands but they're all a lot more lyrically miserable than I cared to share and I also really liked the way they sounded with the super budget, pots and pans (see what I did with the title there?) percussion. I've got a digital sixteen track recorder in the attic and over the years have built up a collection of random instruments so after I recorded the basic (either ukulele or guitar) tracks I chucked as much stuff on it as I could- I wanted it to sound really busy and messy. I managed to achieve the messiness quite well I think..."
Copies will be available from Breakfast Records and also at the EP launch on Thursday at the White Rabbit in Clifton in Bristol. Stream Walking Backwards below!
