HINDS are the up and coming Indie band of the year: they took time out between playing with Black Lips and The Libertines to talk to Third Outing...
3rd: HOLA HINDS, or should we say Deers? Regardless. HOLA HINDS! We finally get to meet. We are big fans of your music! How would you describe it in one sentence?
HINDS: HOLA HOLA !!! You should definitely say HINDS! Thanks for the compliments !!! I think our music is messy, from garage to pop and from the beach to the city!
3rd: So you're a Spanish group! How did you meet? And how did you decide that HINDS was the thing you wanted to do? Is it true you're the female Spanish version of Black Lips?
HINDS: We are all born and raised in Madrid! We were friends before having the band, we probably met in some random gig here! Carlotta and I (Ana) started the band some years ago, but it was a different thing. We only played covers and didn't know about the bands we listen to now. Then, a year and a half ago we started again, but writing our own songs! We didn't think this could be "the thing to do" in our lives. We just started for fun, cause we thought we had something different to give! I'd love to think we are Black Lips female version!
3rd: Yuk! Wow. And Wow again! OK so both the demo and Barn have been incredibly popular. Bouncy and rhythmic and refreshing. Our favourite track is Castigadas El En Granero (Grounded In The Barn). A Spanish title but English singing. Will that change? Or will you stick to English?
HINDS: It's one of our favourites too! We don't know if that will change, but at the moment we prefer singing in English but never say never!
