Brighton is quickly becoming one of the best places, if not the best, for music in Britain. Third Outing found one of Brighton’s best, and therefore one of the Britain’s best: Sulky Boy.
Brighton's Sulky Boy is a fan of Scotland. Limmy's show, Irn Bru, The Fringe. It’s a great start. Just add a pint of Belhaven Best and a fried haggis and you've conquered the place. So what better country than the home of Third Outing to discover Sulky Boy?
Let’s begin with who Daniel Taylor aka Sulky Boy is. Sulky Boy is THE Brighton Mac Demarco. It’s a tag he might be getting tired of by now, but it kind of rings true and that's a heck of a compliment (ceteris paribus)! It's pop music in its electric reverb kind of weird way which is epitomised by Sulky Boy’s undoubted hit tune Balkan Baby, and we love it.
Despite sharing only 4 tracks so far Sulky Boy’s reputation as a songwriter is growing. Balkan Baby is Sulky Boy’s catchy frenetic pop tune which shows the most promise. French Kiss is the classic Demarco clean style guitar track, other track Carmela is the bass driven walker and latest track Things Betwixt is the dazzling dream.
Corona With Lime will probably be the name of Third Outing’s summer playlist, and for a fact this boy will be on it. It's the songs of the summer and if Sulky Boy continues churning out such catchy pieces of pop, 2015 is going to be a year to remember!
