The Real DMA'S
By Steffen Armstrong
DMA'S are one of the most sought after Indie bands of 2016. Having already received huge acclaim for their début record Hills End, DMA'S are on every magazine and every playlist across the globe. So instead of hitting you with the same stories, after seeing their recent Glasgow gig success and talking to the band's front man Tommy O'Dell, here's who Third Outing think the real DMA'S are, and why you should see them at a festival near you this summer...
Down to earth: "I saw my best mate in the crowd giving me the finger. I couldn't help it"…giving the finger back that is. DMA'S have taken the recent success of Hills End totally in their stride. It's easy for a band who get it quick to lose their original appeal. But with tracks such as Delete, Step Up The Morphine and Too Soon, this record is just the beginning. #DMA'Sreal
Music: "Being on FIFA would be sick. They have great playlists. The first one I got the theme song was Rockafeller Skank by Fat Boy Slim". That was Road To World Cup: Fifa 98, and if EA Sports have any sense then DMA'S thumping track Lay Down will be the intro to the next edition. *EA Sports it's in the game, drum beat, guitar riff...lay down give me someone new*. #DMA'SforFIFA17
Attitude: "I think I cringe when I hear Shed Seven [comparisons]. Oh, and some knob said we were not as good as an Oasis cover band he saw. That was heavy...then I told him to lose some weight". For a band like DMA'S it's all about the attitude. They've got the bite from the best of the Brit Pop bands. Just listen to their track Too Soon, there's an attitude there which could be found on a Verve album. The same goes for Delete and In The Moment which share the same magic as The Enemy and Suede respectively. #DMA'SBritpopforthe10s
Style: "Where do I get my clothes? I dunno, usually thrift shops and places like that. I don't have that much coin so I try get good gear for cheap. ADIDAS occasionally give us free shit". It's perhaps the most important thing after the music and attitude...the style! We love the 90's throwback the DMA'S are rocking with such ease. From the plant pot hat to the tracky tops, any band rocking this gear and coming out with this level of hits is going to be successful for a long time. #DMA'Sareyousureyou'renotfromManchester?
